What Is A Cold Pressed Juicer?

A cold pressed juicer, also called a masticating or slow juicer, has a slower motor than a centrifugal juicer which reduces the heating levels of juice during the extracting process.   A cold pressed juicer takes more time to squeeze the natural juices from produce using an auger that slowly breaks down your produce before it’s pressed to separate the juice from the pulp.

What is a cold pressed juice?  A cold pressed juice refers to the finished product after the masticating slow juicer is finished pressing all of the natural juices and nutrients from your chosen ingredients.  Because a masticating slow juicer runs slow it actually keeps the fresh juice from becoming hot since the motor doesn’t heat up like a centrifugal juicer does.

Since your juice is extracted at a slower speed, along with minimal heat from the motor, you will have a more flavorful, nutrient rich juice.  Many people prefer the cold pressed juicers because of the higher nutrient levels they get from their produce along with the maximum juice being squeezed from the ingredients they use.

What is a Cold Pressed Juicers Benefits For You?

The 5 main differences between a cold pressed (masticating) juicer and a centrifugal juicer are:

  • Taste
  • Nutrient Levels
  • Juicing Capabilities
  • Juice Shelf Life
  • Saving Money

Let’s take a closer look at all of these differences so you can better understand why these 4 little things can make or break your choice of a slow juicer compared to a centrifugal juicer.

What’s the taste difference between a cold pressed juicer and a centrifugal juicer?

With a cold pressed juicer you will find a thicker juice and minimal foam when your juice is done.  Since the process of breaking down your produce is done at a slower speed and the auger(s) are breaking your produce down slowly before they are pressed to get all the juice from them, you are left with maximum juice from your produce.

Take a Look at The Video Below and See For Yourself The Difference Between Juicing With a Cold Pressed Juicer or a Centrifugal Juicer…

Having more of the juices squeezed from your produce gives you a much thicker juice compared to a centrifugal juicer.  A centrifugal juicer chops your produce at a much higher speed, about 80 rpm’s, and is immediately pushed against the strainer to separate your juice from the pulp.  This process not only causes your juice to become heated but a lot of the juices are left behind in a wet pulp instead of making it into your glass.  You are left with a thinner juice compared to the slow cold pressed juicers which means less flavor from your produce.

When your juice is done and makes it into your glass, you will find a higher foam level with a centrifugal juicer.  The slower process of the cold pressed juicer and the minimal heating from their motors  allows for an almost foam free juice when you’re finished.  You will also find that your juice won’t separate as quickly as a centrifugal juicers finished juices do.

What’s the difference between the level of nutrients between a cold pressed juicer and centrifugal juicer?

The heat that a centrifugal juicer produces causes a faster oxidation rate which in turn causes nutrients to be lost in your finished juice.  You may get a faster glass of fresh juice but if you’re looking for the maximum benefits of the enzymes, vitamins and minerals your produce has to offer, you won’t get as much of them with the centrifugal juicer.

You can see the difference in the finished juices below showing the juice separation with a fast centrifugal juicer compared to a cold pressed slow juicer.  These where simple tomato and orange juices made with both the centrifugal and cold pressed juicers.

The slow, cold pressed juicers give you the maximum levels of enzymes, vitamins and minerals found in your produce because of the time it takes to break your ingredients down before being pressed for their natural juices.  Since the motors don’t become excessively hot all of the nutrient levels you can get aren’t killed off before making it into your glass.

If you’re looking to get as much of the vitamins and minerals from juicing, you will want to stay aways from a centrifugal juicer and look into the masticating, cold pressed juicers.

What are the juicing capabilities of a cold pressed juicer compared to a centrifugal juicer?

A cold pressed juicer is capable of extracting juice from hard and soft produce along with your leafy greens and wheatgrass.  The auger(s) in the slow, masticating juicers break down everything you feed through the chute with ease.  The slow speed allows time for the harder juicing ingredients, such as spinach, kale and wheat grass, to be broken down very well before being pressed for the juices they offer.

A centrifugal juicer can break down leafy greens and wheatgrass but because of the fast rotating blades that break everything down, a lot of waste is left behind in the pulp that should have been juiced.  When  juicing leafy greens with a centrifugal juicer you will also find they become clogged quicker because they’re not broken down properly before being pressed for juice.

If you want to add green juice to your routine, you will really want to look into a slow, cold pressed juicers so you get the most out of your leafy greens and wheatgrass.

What’s the difference in the shelf life of your finished juice when using a cold pressed or centrifugal juicer?

You can store your finished juice up to 72 hours with a cold pressed slow juicer.  The juice from a centrifugal juicer should be drank within 24 hours after it’s finished.  Since a slow masticating juicer has minimal heating during the juicing process, the oxidation rate of the juice is much slower.  The high heat of a centrifugal juicer causes oxidation to be almost immediate from the time your juice makes it into your glass.

You will find your juice separating in less than a minute with a centrifugal juicer compared to days before the slow cold pressed juicers finished product begins to separate.  Not only does the juice loose vital nutrients from the heating of a centrifugal juicer but making larger batches of juice to enjoy for a few days isn’t recommended.

How will you save money with a cold pressed juicer compared to a centrifugal juicer?

The cold pressed juicer will get all the juice out of your ingredients, saving you money on expensive produce.  The centrifugal juicers will get a lot of juice from a variety of  produce, such as, apples, oranges, carrots and cucumbers but your leafy greens and wheat grass are left with a lot of waste in the pulp.

The cold pressed, slow masticating juicers allow you to use all varieties of fresh produce to make any juicing recipe your heart desires without wasting money on produce that has a lot of juice left behind.  You will also find many of the cold pressed juicers have other capabilities such as, making fresh sorbets, nut butters, baby foods and even the ability to grind meats or make fresh pastas.

What Is A Juicer And How Do They Work?

A juicer is a machine that extracts juice from your fresh produce and gives you all the vital nutrients that are lost with pasteurized juices you find at your local markets.

If you are looking for more information about the 2 types of juicers, centrifugal and masticating slow juicers just hit the links below to go straight to the information about what they are and how they work.

What is a Centrifugal Juicer?

What is a Masticating Juicer?

What Is A Juicer And How Do They Work?

A juicer will give you all the nutrients that your fresh produce has to offer without the loss through pasteurization like store bought juices do.

Pasteurized juices are heated to kill harmful bacterias such as e-coli and salmonella along with other disease causing germs, that can grow with time if left unpasteurized on store shelves.

When juices are heated to remove any harmful bacterias and germs they also lose some of the vitamins, minerals and other healthy nutrients that are found naturally in fruits, veggies and leafy greens.

A juicer allows you to get fresh juice loaded with all the natural vitamins, minerals and nutrients found in your produce.  Most of us take some sort of vitamin supplement daily to give our bodies what they’re lacking from our everyday diets.  Juicing can give your body what it needs naturally by simply making juices with produce that contain the vitamins and minerals you need.

Juicers separate the fiber from the natural juice found in your produce.  By doing this, when we drink our finished juice all of those vitamins and minerals are immediately put into our bodies.  When we eat our fresh produce, which is very healthy also, our bodies have to break down the fiber before we get the natural vitamins and minerals found in the produce.

How Do Juicers Work?

A juicer works by extracting juice from the produce you feed through the chute and separating the pulps from the natural juices in the produce your using.  The juice will flow right into one container while the pulp is pushed into another or left behind on the pulp filter.

There are 2 main juicing machines, the centrifugal and the masticating juicers.  Each of these extracts your juices differently and have good and bad advantages to them.

The positive to both juicer models is the fact that they give you nutrients immediately upon drinking your finished product compared to eating it and waiting for your digestive system to get all the nutrients into your body.

Let’s Take a Look at The 2 Different Juicer Systems

Centrifugal Juicers

The centrifugal juicer has a high speed motor that rotates quickly causing a centrifugal force.  The centrifugal force pushes your produce against a flat cutting blade right above a pulp strainer.  When your produce hits the flat blade it’s forced against the pulp strainer where your juice pushes through and the pulp is left behind.

The centrifugal juicers work quickly to get the fresh juice to your glass.  However, the fast rotation of the motor that’s needed to create the centrifugal force causes high heat which leaves your juice warm and some nutrients destroyed.

You will want to drink your juice from a centrifugal juicer quickly if you want the most nutrients from it.  The heat of the motor on these juicers will break your juice down quickly which kills nutrients if left for a period of time.

A centrifugal juicer works best with softer fruits and veggies such as, oranges, bananas, tomatoes, lemons, celery, cucumbers, etc..  You can use harder produce such as, ginger root, pomegranate, apples, etc., and you will get juice from them but a lot of pulp will be left behind that is moist.  When you’re left with wet pulp then you know juice didn’t make it to your glass.

Fresh leafy greens and herbs also have a bit of trouble breaking down into juice with the centrifugal juicers.  Since these are thinner and soft the centrifugal fast speed can rip them apart but leave a lot of whole pieces behind in the pulp basket and the juice isn’t extracted.

Masticating Juicers

The masticating juicers use a slower method of juicing your produce which reduces the heat of the motor allowing for more of the nutrients to stay in your finished juice, along with juice separation to be minimal.

A masticating juicers, also called a slow juicer or cold pressed juicer, uses and auger that slowly grinds your produce before it’s pressed through the pulp filter.

The grinding from the auger breaks your produce down into small pieces allowing the most juice to be pressed and sent to your glass.

The slower juicing method of the masticating styles not only gives you the most juice out of your produce but also creates a lot less foam along with higher preservation time.  You can take up to 72 hours to drink juice when using a masticating juicer without much loss of nutrients.

Using leafy greens, spinach, kale, parsley, wheat grass, etc., is not a problem with the masticating juicers.  They will be broken down much easier than centrifugal juicers without much waste left behind.  Your harder root veggies and fruits are also broken down easily with the slow juicers.

Masticating juicers are on the more expensive end but typically can do more than just juice.  Most masticating juicers will make fresh sorbets, smoothies, nut butters, nut milks and even pastas or grinding meats with some models.

The versatility with the slow masticating juicers are by far better than the centrifugal juicers.  Having the ability to use a juicer for more than just extracting juices is a nice feature.  Making fresh homemade peanut butter or almond milk plus fresh sorbets is a plus for those wanting a healthier life style.

Best Juicers For Home Use

Picking the best juicers for home use is not just about brands and costs. What matters is what you need from your juicer. There are a few things to consider when picking your juicer so you’re not just throwing your money away on something that doesn’t meet your expectations.

Let’s look at some important features that juicers do and don’t have to help you narrow down what is best for you!

What Types of Juicers Are There?

There are 2 main types of home juicers:

  • The Centrifugal Juicer
  • The Masticating Juicer (also referred to as the slow juicer or cold press juicer)

Both juicers have pros and cons to them but understanding what you will want from your juicer can make your decision and ability to find the best juicer for you much easier!

The centrifugal juicer is the most common juicer found in kitchens due to its lower price and fast speed of juicing.  These juicers usually start at about $100 making them affordable for everyone.

However these machines don’t deliver as many nutrients and leave a lot of juice behind in the discarded pulp. If you want to use leafy greens or fresh herbs, the centrifugal isn’t the best choice for you.

The masticating juicers are a little higher in price but offer more juicing capabilities than just squeezing juice from your produce.

Most masticating juicers can make nut butters, nut milks, fresh sorbets and baby foods.  This is a wonderful feature for those looking to incorporate more varieties of unprocessed foods into your diets.

Adding spinach, kale and other leafy greens along with fresh herbs into your juice is possible with the masticating juicers.  The slow speed and the auger systems allow you to get the most juice from your leafy greens.

The 4 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Buying Your Juicer

  1. How much of the nutrients from my produce will I actually get from my juicer?
  2. What is my price range?
  3. Do you just want to make simple juices or do you want the ability to make juices with leafy greens, wheat grass and fresh herbs?
  4. Are you looking to make fresh baby foods or nut butters, or the ability to make nut milks?

What Do You Want to Juice and How Much of The Nutrients do You Want From Your Juice?

If you are looking to just make some simple juices such as orange juice, pineapple juice or veggie juices, you will probably be perfectly happy with the centrifugal juicers.

This type of juicer is fast, easy and generally on the less expensive side of the juicer family. It’s capable of making simple juices without a problem and is great for you if you aren’t looking to make other things like nut butters.

The centrifugal juicers have a simple design. When you push your produce through the shoot it’s pushed against a flat blade,  The high speed from the motor causes a centrifugal force that pushes the cut produce against the strainer below.   The strainer keeps the produce pulp and waste in place while the juice is forced through and empties into a container.

Because of the high speed and simple components of the centrifugal juicers, they are not ideal for leafy greens. You could use them but you’ll be more likely to clog the strainer rather than get much juice from them. You will find large pieces of your leafy greens left behind to either be discarded or attempt to put back through the juicer.

Centrifugal juicers produce a high heat because of the fast motor needed to create a centrifugal force for juice extracting.  The higher heat causes your juice to have more foam and will break down very quickly.  You will also have a loss in vital nutrients from the heat but even with this, you’re still getting a lot more vitamins and minerals than you do with a store bought juice.

What if you’re looking to use all varieties of produce?

If you’re looking to use both hard and soft varieties of produce, along with leafy greens, wheat grass and fresh herbs, you’ll want to consider the masticating juicers.

The masticating  juicers have the ability to get the most juice out of all your produce because they don’t just cut and push your ingredients into juice like the centrifugal juicers do.

The masticating juicers work at a slower speed and use auger blades to chew and grind your juicing ingredients instead of being pushed against a flat blade and crushed like the centrifugal juicers.  Your juice may take a little longer to make but you can enjoy it up to 72 hours after your finished without loosing nutrients or finding your juice has separated.

What Do You Want to Make With Your Juicer and How Much Are You Willing to Spend?

Juicers come in a wide range of prices from $100 to over a $1000 to buy.   Depending on how much of a juicing enthusiast you are and what you want to make with your juicer will determine what you’re going to spend.

Many of the masticating juicers have the ability to not only make juice but grind coffee beans, make fresh butters, turn frozen produce into sorbets or smoothies, make baby foods, even create fresh nut milks, pastas or grind meats.

The centrifugal juicers are the least expensive and are perfect if you’re just looking to juice simple recipes without the use of leafy greens, wheat grass or fresh herbs.  They will work wonderfully to get a lot of juice from your basic fruits and veggies, just plan to drink your finished juice immediately after it’s done.  Making larger batches of juice at a time to consume later is definitely an option but there will be a loss of nutrients.

The masticating juicers have the ability to break down all types of fruits, veggies, herbs, leafy greens, wheat grass and nuts, giving you more versatility and uses for your juicer, just plan on spending a little more money.

You’ll spend at the least $150 on the low end for a good masticating juicer to as much as $1000 or more. If you want a juicer that can handle everything you want to make and not just simple juicing then you may want to consider a larger investment for your juicing machine.

Best Masticating Juicers 2024 Reviews

Masticating juicers are also called slow juicers or cold press juicers. They don’t use a high speed, like the centrifugal juicers, to get juices from your produce.  The masticating juicers have augers that crush your produce slowly when they’re pushed through the feed chute.  After they are slowly crushed they are pushed through a mesh liner where your produce juice is separated from the pulp.

Since the masticating juicers run slowly, they produce more juice from your produce and don’t heat up your juices like the centrifugal juicers do.  Without the the higher heat, you’ll gain more of the nutrients in your finished juice compared to the centrifugal juicers.  Take a look at the comparison table below to see some of the key differences between the centrifugal and masticating juicers.

So What Are 10 Important Differences Between These Juicers?

  1.  The cost difference between these juicers is large, but when you compare the amount of juice you’ll get from the masticating juicers, which are more expensive, compared to the centrifugal machines, you will save money in the long run.
  2. The centrifugal juicers will give you juice from your produce very quickly with the higher speed motor but the fast juicing causes a lot of the nutrients your looking to find in your juice to be broken down and lost.  However, the slower speed of the masticating juicer gives you more juice from the same amount of produce, up to 30-50% more along with the nutrition you most likely are looking to find when your juice is finished.
  3. The masticating juicers run at a slower speed which keeps the motor cool.  The centrifugal juicers run at a higher speed, which causes your juice to get heated and in return breaks down and looses a lot of vital nutrients in your juice.
  4. The higher speed of the centrifugal juicers causes a faster oxidation rate which not only kills vital nutrients in your juice but also causes more foam in your juice and faster separation of your juices.
  5. The taste of your fresh juice is better with the slow masticating juicers because you’re getting more juice from your produce at a slower, cooler speed compared to the centrifugal juicers.
  6.  The centrifugal juicers typically have a larger chute compared to the masticating juicers so you can use whole pieces of produce.  The masticating juicers typically have a smaller feed chute so you’ll need to cut your produce up a bit more, but again, you gain more juice.
  7. Masticating juicers have more abilities than just making juice from your produce.  If you want to make your own flours, nut butters, nut milks, fresh spices, pastas and even homemade baby foods, the masticating juicer is what you’re looking for.  The centrifugal juicers are not built to do much extra except juicing your produce.
  8. The noise level between the centrifugal juicer and the masticating juicers are very different.  The masticating juicers slower speed compared to the centrifugals high speed motors allows the noise of the masticating juicers to be significantly lower.
  9. If you want to juice larger amounts of juice at a time without the worry of it going sour for a day or two, then you want to stay away from the centrifugal juicers.  The heat from the centrifugal juicers, which cause a faster separation rate of the fresh juice, should be consumed within 24hours.  Whereas the masticating juicers slower speed allows the juice to stay fresh up to 48 hours or more.  If you only want to juice every few days but want to have juice for a few days, you’ll want a masticating juicer.
  10. Using fresh leafy greens, (kale, spinach, lettuce, etc.) does not produce much juice with the centrifugal juicers.  You will find a lot of the leafy green produce left very wet and even still whole when using them in the centrifugal juicers.  The masticating juicing press feature produces almost 100% of the juice from your leafy greens and very dry pulp, without having to put it through the juicer more than once.  The centrifugal juicers are not capable of producing juice from wheatgrass, unlike the masticating juicers which do it with ease.  So if you are looking to add a lot of leafy greens, fresh herbs or wheatgrass to your juices, you will need a slow masticating juicer to get the juice into your glass.

The Bottom Line

If you want a quick glass of fresh juice and don’t mind a bit more foam or the loss of some nutrients, then you will be just fine with a centrifugal juicer.  If you are looking for the most nutrients and the ability to use leafy greens, fresh herbs and wheatgrass, then you will need a masticating juicer.

For most of us a juicer is an investment for better health and well being.  For those who just want to enjoy a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice or vegetable juice and have no desire to add the green stuff, then you don’t need a masticating juicer.  If you are looking for a simple, fast juicer to make fruit juices, you can find the Best Centrifugal Juicers of 2024 HERE

Cold Extraction System Keeps Nutrients In The Juice
Breville Juice Fountain
4.5
$199.95 $179.95

The Breville company has been around since 1932 and is located in Australia. They focus on smaller kitchen appliances such as toasters, coffee makers, juicers, etc.. This is a brand name that you can trust to have excellent customer service. They stand by their products and are always looking to improve their designs to make them more efficient for their customers.

What Does The Breville Offer You?

This is an excellent masticating juicer that not only crushes your produce to get the juice out but squeezes it as well, giving you the most juice you could possibly get from your produce. The juice is extracted from your produce with a screw and filter design, when you put your produce into the feed chute, it is rotated around the large auger screw to break it down and then crushed to extract all of the juices.

Unlike other masticating juicers on the market, this Breville has a wide chute opening, 3″ to be exact and a smaller feed chute for your smaller produce such as, celery, carrots, fresh herbs, etc.. This is the only masticating juicer on the market that offers a larger feed chute allowing you to push whole pieces of produce right through without cutting them down.

Masticating juicers need to be taken apart to thoroughly clean them between juicing recipes, this can add an extra 15-20 minutes to your juicing routine.  The Breville cut the cleaning time down by adding their quick rinse technology.

Just open the feed tube, fill with water, turn it on to clean then get rid of the dirty water through the spout. This is a really great feature if your making different juices to get you through a few days and don’t want the flavor from one going into the next batch.

The size of this juicer is convenient compared to other masticating juicing machines. The Breville Big is only 11 lbs., and is taller instead of wider, making it easy to leave out on your countertop to use daily.

Take a Closer Look at How The Breville Works

As you can see in the video, there is a spout plug that holds your juice inside the machine and slowly mixes it around so you get a blended juice instead of it just pouring into your container as each piece of produce is pushed through. This feature gives you a better tasting juice with some of the fiber making your juice a little thicker and smoother compared to other masticating juicers.

Pros:
  • The auger with this juicer is very large allowing your produce to be broken up very well before being squeezed. This ensures you get the most juice out of your produce and saving you money in the long run.
  • Grab all those leafy greens and your wheatgrass, you will get all the juice and nutrients from them using this machine.
  • The 3″ feed tube is only found on the Breville FJE430SIL masticating juicer. They are common with the centrifugal juicers but with other masticating juicers you have to cut up your larger fruits and veggies. This will be a time saver for you when your juicing.
  • Other masticating juicers have the juice pouring right into your glass as you push each piece of produce through the chute. You have a plug on the spout of the juicer, so as you push each piece of produce through the chute your juice is kept inside the bottom chamber, slowly rotating, mixing your produce juices together. When you’re done juicing open the plug and out pours your juice already mixed and rea
Cons:
  • It is not recommended to make sorbets with this machine because it becomes clogged from the frozen produce and stuck to the walls around the auger.
  • The pulp waste container is smaller than other masticating juicers so you’ll need to empty it more when your juicing.
  • Other customers have said that you will find it clogging up when juicing celery, which is a main staple in the juicing world. To avoid this you should cut the celery up into smaller pieces so you can avoid this problem.

The Omega VRT350 is a bit simpler than the Omega J8006, which was the top choice for the best masticating juicers in 2019. Unlike the J8006 model, the VRT350 doesn’t have the ability to make your pastas and nut butters but juices your produce including leafy greens with ease. You’ll find a great quality product with the Omega brand who takes pride in creating the best small kitchen appliances for their consumers.

What Does The Omega VRT350 Masticating Juicer Offer You?

You will find an upright compact design with the VRT350 which takes little space on your countertop so you can keep it out to use whenever you want. Although this masticating juicer is smaller than others on the market, it will squeeze the juice out of your produce and leafy greens with little effort.

You will find 2 juicing screens with this juicer, a fine screen and a course screen allowing you to control the amount of pulp you want in your finished juice. If you like a thinner juice with little to no pulp, use the fine screen. For a thicker more fibrous juice you’ll want to choose the course screen.

There is a 150 watt motor with this model that rotates at 80 rpm’s. The slower speed allows for your produce and leafy greens to maintain the vital nutrients in your finished juice. The oxidation speed of your juice is also much lower because of the lower speed and heat from the motor, which means you can take up to 72 hours to drink your juice without the worry of losing all the nutrients.

The pulp that you’ll find left behind is very dry so you know that the most juices you could get from your produce made it to your glass.

Take a Closer Look at How The Omega VRT350 Works

As you can see in the video this machine works really well with all your produce, soft, hard, leafy greens and even wheatgrass. If all your looking for is a simple machine to make juices this is a really great choice.

If you’re looking to have the ability to make fresh fruit sorbets, nut butters and milks, this model isn’t the best choice for you. This is a straight up produce juicer.

Pros:
  • Juice everything your heart desires with this masticating juicer from your lettuce, kale, spinach to harder fruits and veggies like, carrots, ginger root, pineapple or pomegranates. If you are looking to juice softer fruits such as oranges, lemons or tomatoes, you will find it works very well to get all the juice out of them as well.
  • Smaller upright design weighing only 18 lbs, making it easy for you to leave it on your kitchen counter or put it away and take out without any trouble.
  • Taking this juicer apart and putting back together is simple when it’s time to clean up and if you just want to have a quick clean between juicing recipes, simply pour water down the produce chute, turn the machine on and let the machine do the work for you
  • The low motor speed keeps the heat out of your fresh juice and leaves the vital nutrients in your finished juice. You will find a lower oxidation rate allowing you to drink the fruits of your labor for up to 72 hours after juicing without your juice s
Cons:
  • You won’t be able to make fresh nut milks, butters, flours or pastas with the Omega VRT350. It’s also not recommended to use it for making fresh sorbets or smoothies. This juicer is excellent for juicing but that’s about all.
  • When juicing celery, which is a main staple for most of us in the juicing world, you will need to cut it up small. Being that celery is a stringy veggie it clogs up the pulp screen and the chute and can be a pain in the butt to clean out.

Here’s A Little More Information About Masticating Slow Juicers

Masticating juicers are more expensive but many models also deliver more capabilities than just juicing. Most masticating juicers are capable of making nut butters, nut milks, baby foods and even pastas.

If you are looking to get the most nutrients out of your ingredients for juicing the masticating juicer will do that. Although you do still get great benefits from a less expensive centrifugal juicer, the masticating juicers just offer you more.

If you would like to look at what the centrifugal juicers offer you and compare the 2 different juicing models you can check them out here:

Best Centrifugal Juicers 2024 Reviews

Finding the best centrifugal juicers of 2024 can become a bit overwhelming for those just starting their juicing journey.  It’s not hard once you decide what you need from your juicing machine.  Do you want the ability to make nut butters or using leafy greens and herbs in your juices? Not all centrifugal juicers have the ability to do this.

Centrifugal juicers are the most common juicer found in kitchens today. They are lower cost and are the fastest compared to the masticating juicers. You will have your glass of juice in about 2 minutes compared to 5 minutes or more with a slow masticating juicer.

Let’s take a closer look at how your centrifugal juicer gets the goods into your glass:

How Does The Centrifugal Juicer Work?

Centrifugal juicers have a wide chute that is capable of handling large pieces of fruits and veggies, such as whole apples and carrots. You don’t have to chop your juicing ingredients into small pieces.

When your ready to make your juice, you put your ingredients into the large chute and when it’s pushed down it is pressed against a flat cutting blade that has a very fast rotation. The fast rotation causes a centrifugal force that pushes the chopped produce against the strainer that separates the juice from the pulp.

The pulp is left behind on the strainer while the juice is separated into your glass for your drinking pleasure.

Due to the fast speed of the motor, which causes a lot of heat with a centrifugal juicer, you will have a faster oxidation rate so you should drink your juice immediately to get the most nutrients from it.

You won’t get a long shelf life from your juices with the centrifugal juicer,  if you do want to make larger batches to last a couple of days. The juice will generally go bad within a day so if you don’t mind juicing every day that won’t be a problem for you.

The Pros & Cons to Purchasing a Centrifugal Juicer

The benefits to the centrifugal juicers are:

  • Works fast to get you fresh juice
  • Has the ability to handle large fruits and veggies so your preparation time is low
  • Less pricey compared to the masticating and triturating juicers
  • Easy to put together and take apart for cleaning

The weaknesses of the centrifugal juicers are:

  • The high speed causes the motor to heat, in return causing a faster oxidation rate of your fresh juice and short shelf life
  • The nutrient benefits are lost quickly so you should drink the juice immediately after it’s done to get the most benefits from your fresh juice
  • Higher foam in your juice compared to the masticating and triturating juicers because of the high speed
  • You will find very moist pulp when your done juicing which means a lot of the juice from your produce is left behind and wasted
  • Noisier than the slower masticating and triturating juicers
  • You can use leafy greens like kale, spinach along with fresh herbs but they don’t break down well at all, you will find these types of ingredients left on the strainer when cleaning up your juicer

If you’re still interested in the centrifugal juicer, then keep reading on. Now we’ll dive into some top models on the market today.  You will find the following information about each juicing machine to help you pick the perfect match for your needs:

  • The power of the motor
  • How many speeds you will have
  • How much juice is extracted with each use
  • If the juicer is dishwasher safe
  • Size of the feed chute for your fruits and veggies
  • If it can break down leafy greens & herbs

Is This What You’re Looking For?

Picking the right juicer for your kitchen isn’t an easy task. You want to find the right one that will offer you exactly what you need and expect out of your fresh juices.

If you are looking to make mostly veggie and fruit juices without the use of many leafy greens then this may be the perfect match for you. Although this machine will handle your kale, spinach and other leafy greens in small batches, you won’t get all the juice from them that you may expect.

As far as the size and noise level of this juicing machine, it’s quieter than many other centrifugal juicers and the size makes it portable so you can take it with you if you want to.

One thing to keep in mind with this juicer is that the spout, where the juice comes out, is lower to the counter than other models. You will need a smaller cup to catch your fresh juice and won’t be able to use a larger travel mug or pitcher while juicing.

For some this may not be a big deal to stop and start juicing so you can empty the cup but for others this could be a deal breaker due to it being inconvenient.

Pros:
  • Easily portable due to its smaller size
  • Surgical grade stainless steel blades for durability
  • Large feed chute allowing for whole fruits and veggies to be used
  • 15 year parts and performance warranty
  • Large pulp collection cup allowing you to juice more without stopping to empty the waste
  • Quieter operation compared to other centrifugal juicers
Cons:
  • Doesn’t have the ability to juice your leafy greens such as kale, spinach or fresh herbs very well. You will get some juice from these but a lot of the juice is left behind in the pulp
  • There is more heat with this juicer due to it’s fast motor causing more foam to come out with your juice
  • Juice separates quickly because of the higher heat

5 Speeds Juices Leafy Greens
Cuisinart CJE-1000 Juicer Machine
4.4
$179.95

Cuisinart appliances can be found in almost every kitchen around the world. The name itself usually makes the phrase ” good quality product” pop into your mind and with good reason!

Cuisinart is an American home appliance brand that was founded back in 1971 by Carl Sontheimer. His first appliance was a food processor.

In 1989 Cuisinart was bought by the Conair Corporation and is still owned by them to this day.

You can find a wide range of kitchen appliances produced by Cuisinart, simple cutlery to larger appliances such as refrigerators. The one thing that never seems to falter with this company, is the pride in their products that are created.

What Will You Find With The Cuisinart CEJ-1000 Centrifugal Juicer?

  • You’ll find 5 speeds available and a 1000 watt motor with the Cuisinart CJE-1000. What’s so great about having 5 speeds? You have the ability to juice the softest fruits and veggies along with your leafy greens at a slow speed, which will yield higher juice from them.
  • Depending on the softness or hardness of your other produce your using, you can adjust the speed to yield the highest amount of juice from them.
  • Cuisinart includes a unique special foam management filter disk. This specially designed disk reduces the foam coming from your produce keeping it out of your fresh cup of juice. The spout, has an adjustable flow and is attached to the foam management disk, allowing you the ability to choose how quickly your juice comes out. Some people really enjoy this feature because they say it leaves even less foam on the top of the finished juice when they use the slower flow as you can see in the picture to the left.
  • The feed chute on this Cuisinart juicer is 3″ in diameter allowing for whole pieces of product to push right through without having to prep them before juicing.
  • You will also find a large pulp container included with this product, 2-liters in size, allowing you to keep on juicing without having to stop and empty the waste constantly.
  • All the parts are dishwasher safe if you don’t want the hassle of hand washing. There is also a cleaning brush included to help get the grating screen spic and span.

Is This The Juicer You’re Looking For?

The Cuisinart CJE-1000 centrifugal juicers ability to adjust your speed according to the type of produce your juicing is an excellent feature. You will get the most juice out of your produce with this feature which will save you money.

The adjustable speeds also make it easy to juice your leafy greens unlike some other centrifugal juicers out there that leave whole chunks behind to be put through again and again to get the most out of them.

Having a foam management disk is another great feature, just adjusting the spout to control your juice flow couldn’t be easier. Since this is a centrifugal juicer, the higher speed of the motor causes more heat compared to the masticating and triturating juicing machines. The higher heat inevitably will cause more foam to come out into your glass. With the foam management disk, the foam is decreased compared to many other centrifugal juicers.

Pros:
  • 5 available speeds making it super easy to juice all varieties of produce and leafy greens just by the turn of a dial
  • Special foam management disk that adjusts by turning a lever on the juice spout
  • Easy to clean dishwasher safe pieces making cleanup as simple as can be
  • Simple design to take apart and put back together
  • Large feed chute allowing whole fruits and veggies to be juiced without the need of cutting
Cons:
  • he pulp left behind is still a bit wet, so there is juice left behind from your produce that isn’t making it to your glass. Remember this is a centrifugal juicer so this is expected
  • Has some trouble with leafy greens, you will find large chunks in the pulp container that will need to be put back through again. Again this is a centrifugal juicer and it’s expected. Consumers recommend wrapping your leafy greens around some solid product, like whole apples when juicing them and you’ll get more juice from the leafy veggies.
  • This is a larger centrifugal juicer so make sure you have the counter space to set it up

A Little More Information About The Centrifugal Juicers

The centrifugal juicers are a wonderful addition to a healthy eating routine to get those added fresh vitamins and minerals into your diet.  You will get fresh juices instantly and at a lower cost than other juicers like the masticating juicer machines.

The main problems with the centrifugal juicing machine compared to a masticating juicer are:

  1.  The heat from the motors cause more foam when your juice is extracted
  2.  The heat from the motor causes the nutrients from the fruits and veggies to break down quickly so making larger batches to save time isn’t the best idea if you want to get as much nutrients as possible
  3.  The centrifugal juicers just don’t break your fruits and veggies down as well as a slow masticating juicer and leave a wet pulp that still has juice in it, usually you will need to run it 2 times to get all the juice out of your ingredients

If these few things don’t bother you then the centrifugal juicer will be perfect for you.  If you would like to get as much nutrients from your juicing ingredients, you may want to take a peek at the masticating juicers.

The masticating juicers get much more juice out due to its slower speed and they don’t heat up as much, keeping the nutrients intact and the foam to a minimum.
